April Things in Seoul: Cherry Blossom Festivals

If you’re gonna be in Seoul in April, you’re in luck because cherry blossom season has returned! During the first and second week of April, you’ll witness Seoul transform into a sea of gorgeous pastel pink. Locals and tourists will fill the parks and the streets to see the cherry blossoms before they fade away, which is usually followed by Summer… And we’re not quite ready for that yet.

If you’re looking for more than just pretty flowers, here are two cherry blossom festival you can check out this April:

Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival (영등포 여의도 봄꽃축제)

If you’re gonna go see Cherry Blossoms in Seoul, go big or go home. This award-winning festival is returning to Yeouido for its 12th edition. Enjoy the various art & culture booths, live music, the parade, and all the delicious street food. Oh, the food! (For more info:

How to get there: Take line 9 and get off at National Assembly Station. Take Exit 1 or 6. 5-minute walk.

 

Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival (석촌호수 벚꽃축제)

Located in the home of Seoul’s famous Lotte World, Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival will offer you a mild 2.5km trek around the lake and a beautiful, 360 degree view of the area. (For more info:

Price: FREE

How to get there: Take line 2 or 8 and get off at Jamsil Station. Take Exit 2 or 3.

TIPS:

  • I highly recommend taking the subway instead of driving! Parking will be a major pain in the butt… Mark my words.
  • Try going at night. They’ll have the whole place lit up and you’ll get a completely different experience. (It’ll be “lit”)
