How are you guys surviving this heat right now? I’m seriously asking – HOW?? The heat here in Seoul has been so suffocating and this humidity is not helping at all. Despite the heat, it is still important to stay in check with your overall health. Here are three things to remember:
Hydration is key
You probably heard this one a lot, and it really is a no-brainer. You sweat a lot in suffocating hot weather and you end up becoming dehydrated fast. It’s important to restore hydration in your system as much as possible. Aim for 8 cups a day!
Of course, I know you would want to shower after sweating a bucketload in order to feel fresh and clean. Besides the obvious, infrequent showers can cause skin irritation due to clogged pores and dust sitting on the film of sweat on your body. (great imagery, i know) If you’re eczema-prone like me, it’s super important to shower as soon as you get home and layer a light, quick-absorbing lotion to seal in the moisture. My favorite lotion right now is Nivea’s Express Hydration Lotion, which absorbs into my skin super fast and leaves my skin feeling hydrated but not sticky.
Watch out for the A/C…
During summer, there’s nothing better than walking into a cool, air-conditioned room. However, exposing yourself to huge temperature differences frequently can actually cause you to get sick easier. And trust me, you do not want to get sick in this weather. That should be the last thing you want. Avoid the disaster by bringing a light cardigan around and removing excess sweat from your neck, chest, forehead as soon as you find shelter indoors.
Have a fun and safe rest of your summer!
