To all the sunscreen haters: important beauty advice I picked up from Korea

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Confession: before moving back to Korea, I rarely wore sunscreen. Maybe reached for it once in a blue moon, I’d say. I knew it was important to protect your skin, but since young age, I had a strong aversion towards sunscreen. It was thick, sticky, and had a funny smell that made me gag. Don’t even get me started on how much it hurt when it got in the eyes!!! Another big reason I didn’t wear sunscreen was because I used to associate sunscreen with being pale or maintaining paleness. And I was not about that. I wanted to be a tanned, bronzed goddess and didn’t want any barrier to get in the way of achieving that. (never did, FYI) Continue reading

If you are even a little bit interested in the beauty world, you probably have heard of the product “dry shampoo.” It is one of those products that I was skeptical of at first, but after using it for months, has become one of my holy grail beauty items. Why? Because not only is it super easy to use, it helps me get through the week with only washing my hair 2-3 times. Continue reading

When life gives you lemons… Don’t just make lemonade!

Ever since I moved to Korea, there was a part of me that suffered (and still suffering) the hardest. It was my skin. The sudden change in environment just made my skin flare up like a wildfire and I started breaking out like I’ve never had before. This was a true state of (beauty) emergency. I frantically searched online for remedies, and discovered a particular recurring theme – lemons!

Not only are the zesty citruses high in vitamin C, it is also super versatile and can be used for other purposes. (Did you know that you can even use lemons as household cleaners?) Here are just a few examples that I have actually tried and loved:
