“slowness is happiness” in Korean

This past Korean Memorial Day weekend, my close coworker and I planned a last-minute getaway to Wando and Cheongsando, just so we can relax before we begin another hectic week of work work work. We managed to snag the last, few remaining guesthouses and hopped on an 8:30am bus to begin the 5-hour journey to our destination.

TCK Goes to Hawaii: 9 reasons why Oahu should be your next vacation destination

TCK Goes to Hawaii

If you already follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you know that I went to the gorgeous island of Oahu, Hawaii a few weeks ago. This wasn’t my first time to Hawaii, however, it was the first time going without the company of family members so it was a completely different experience. It almost felt like I was visiting the place for the first time. (definitely a case of travelling with family vs. travelling with friends) Maybe it was also because I’m older now…

Anyways, I’m here to convince you why Oahu should be your next vacation destination. It’s not because I’m doubting that you believe Hawaii is amazing, but to reinforce that thought. I know Hawaii has always been lauded as being a paradise, but sometimes it can seem overrated because everyone talks about it. But Hawaii is far from it. It is well-deserving of all those wonderful reviews and raves. And I’m about to tell you why: Continue reading

The air is always fresher in 춘천 Chuncheon

Before my two weeks of vacation came to an end and I had to go back to the grueling reality at work, I decided to end it right with a day-trip to Chuncheon. The trip happened just a few days after I came back from Shanghai, and I was still glowing from the trip and eager to get out and explore. Since I’ve heard nothing but good things about Chuncheon, I decided to make that our destination. I asked my mom to come with me because we’ve never been on a trip just the two of us before. After a quick research on the world wide web on things to do in Chuncheon, we had our itinerary set for the day. Seriously though, God bless the internet! Continue reading

By the time you’re reading this, I’ll be on my way to or will already be in Shanghai. (*high-pitch giggle*) As if you can’t already tell, I’m super excited for my upcoming trip to Shanghai. I have not been back since 2011, and in fast-paced Shanghai 4 years missed could amass to about 10 years worth of change. So you bet I am excited to to see what have changed and what remained. As I’m preparing myself for the trip, there were these random thoughts whirling around my head. They go something like this: Continue reading

Hold on, I’m going home!!! (Well, one of them)

I'll be standing at the Bund to see this beautiful sight soon!

I’ll be standing at the Bund to see this beautiful sight soon!

For the past few months, I’ve been debating on whether I should visit Japan or Taiwan until prices went up and I couldn’t afford either of the places anymore. As you may or may not know, I have my two dearest friends in those respective countries, and the whole purpose of my trip was to have a reunion. Continue reading

Where should I travel to next?

TCK Goes Home: Where should I travel to next?

I’ve been having an itch to travel recently. Maybe it’s because the warmer weather. Or maybe it’s the fact that we’re nearing vacation season, and my friends and coworkers have been talking about summer plans already. I decided to put work stuff (ugh) aside for a bit and thought about the places I haven’t been to yet. Here are the few of the many:

What I’m looking forward to the most about Seattle…

It is officially December. It snowed on the first day here in Korea to welcome the change in season. This also means I’m closer to my trip back to Seattle. I have been counting down for weeks, and I can’t believe it’s finally time! As you may know, I’ve lived in Seattle in the recent 5 years before I moved back to Korea, and it is a place very, very dear to my heart. Not only is Seattle beautiful and charming in its own way, I have memories made with wonderful people deeply embedded in the city. Ever since I moved, there had been many moments when I had some major nostalgia. Therefore, this trip means a lot to me for it’ll definitely caress the pain (?) away. Continue reading
